Reclaimed Azobe Railroad Sleepers are on their way…

UPDATE: After a MAJOR delay in getting this material, it is now set to arrive on July 10th, 2010. Thanks for your patience... we think the wait will be worth it.

20' container of Azobe Railroad Sleepers (Railroad Ties) are on their way here and should arrive around the end of March.

These ties measure 6" x 10 x 8'6" each and talk about dense... each one weighs about 220 lbs.

Measures 3350 on the Janka scale of hardness (16th hardest in the world).

Azobe is a tropical wood that comes from certain parts of Africa. Long used as railroad ties throughout Europe because of it's ability to hold up under extreme conditions without the need for a creosote or other chemical treatment. It is considered to be practically immune to rot and is one of the few species in the world resistant to pests including termites and woodworm.

Azobe is ideal for any outdoor use... on both damp and dry ground and in fresh or salt water. It seems to last "forever".

Azobe is the hardest industrially used wood in the world.

The heartwood is naturally fire-resistant and is naturally very resistant to weathering, acids and parasites.

Holds up to all weather conditions, pests, etc.
